FAQs

What can I expect from the first session?
During the first session, it will be slightly different from what the other sessions will look like. This is due to me wanting to get to know you more, so, we will discuss any goals you have, your expectations from counselling and any concerns you might have. Don’t worry if you don’t know the answers to these straight away. This is something we can discuss more throughout our time together.

How much will it cost?

Sessions are £50 and can be payable in advance and can be made via bank transfer.

Where are sessions held and how long are they?

Either face to face in a space at my home – an office in the garden; or remote via google meets. I can also offer telephone counselling.

Sessions are 50 minutes long. I will manage the time of the session and let you know as we approach the end of our 50 minutes together.

What if I am late?

Please let me know if you will be late, I understand that sometimes traffic is unexpected or life just gets in the way.

But keep in mind that being late will affect your session time, I cannot extend the session finish time. If timekeeping is a problem for various reasons, then we can discuss this and find a time that is suitable.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend your session, I require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or to reschedule your appointment.

If 24 hours’ notice is not given, you will be required to pay for the session.

Is there a set amount of sessions / do I have to come every week?
I offer open-ended counselling so it is up to you how many you want. We will regularly review the sessions to see how you are feeling, and the ending can be discussed at any time. Many people take therapeutic breaks and return as needed.

It is recommended that your sessions are weekly, however, I do understand that weekly doesn’t work for everyone. So, sessions can be weekly or every other week.

Will it be confidential?
Yes, all sessions are confidential, which ensures a safe and secure environment. There are only a few cases in which confidentiality will have to be breeched and I will have to inform the relevant agencies; this is explained in the contract and during our first session.

  • If a child or vulnerable individuals are at serious risk of harm.

  • By law, I must report any information related to money laundering, drug / human trafficking, terrorism and / or dealing in weapons.

If any of these are mentioned then only appropriate details will be shared with the relevant authorities. If there are any questions about this, please ask me during our sessions.

Your personal details are protected as I am fully insured and compliant with data protection regulations under ICO – GDPR data protection.
